Here's Toby's new favorite toy...his sippy cup. He has now spent a good couple hours throughout the last two days trying to perfect taking off the lid and putting it back on. He is so studious sometimes and just has to figure something out and other times he's just destructive and has to pull down and tip over everything he can get his little hands on. He's a funny little guy.
Lately he has really been impressing Jamie and I with how fast he is learning new things. He is just a little sponge, absorbing every new word, song, book, and skill. Last week he learned to nod his head 'yes' when I ask him a question (he must have just picked this up on his own, I didn't try teaching him this) So I can ask him 'Toby, do you want a drink of water?' and he then nods his head yes...if doesn't want a drink he will just ignore me. lol Or Jamie's favorite was the other morning when he got Toby up from bed and he was making the ASL sign for 'milk' (it looks like your milking a cow) so Jamie asked him 'Do you want some milk Toby?' and he then nodded his head 'yes' while doing the sign over and over.
I have also been teaching him things like up, down, on, off, open and close. And I never really knew if it was sinking in until a couple nights ago. Jamie and I were watching T.V. and we have this armoire that holds the T.V. and the two doors were open on it and Toby walked past it and closed one of the doors. So I ask him (not expecting anything mind you) 'Toby, can you please open the door for Mommy?' He then walks back and grabs the door and opens it! We were amazed that he could understand that! lol So now he thinks it's funny (of course) to go and close the door just so I can ask him to open it, and then he expects a round of applause afterwards. :) He is getting way too big!!!
